which Nvidia card?

Considering I've never bought a nvidia card before i was wondering whats the best one i can get for around $300?
needs to play HL2

oh yeah i think im going to go with PCI express or whatever. unless anyone thinks something else is better.

7800GT.

I can get max settings, good res (1280x1024) with good FPS (50+). If i force 8x AA, I can still get (40+ FPS (sometimes it dips down to 25+, but very rarely)) 8x AA looks VERY nice.

There isn't a single jagged edge anywhere.

Wait till the 7900 GT-X comes out, Prices will drop for the 7800 GT & GTX.

7800GT...but if you want to wait for the 79** series to come out im sure the 7800GTX prices will drop down to near your budget
