Default Looking for an MMORPG

Hey people, i've had some spare time lately, and i'm getting kind of bored. I was thinking maybe i could try out an mmorpg. Thing is, i'm a very picky *******.
I used to play runescape back in the day, and i found it fun. But now it's just laggy as ****, and you can't get anything fun out of it unless you pay. And if you're paying, might as well get a better game...

Anyways, i'm looking for a mmorpg that has fighting etc. in it, and where you can develop skills (ex. mining, smithing), lots of PvP action, but i really don't want to pay monthly. Does such a thing exist?

Not paying monthly usually means the game is a subpar MMORPG.

Except in Guild Wars....

crafting, role playing, pvp pvm, and free? well, I know a game that's been out for many years, and I play the payed version, but there are many free versions out there. it has EVERYTHING that you listed, but the graphics aren't all that visually appealing. give it a shot! you might like it. Ultima Online... google "free shard" and "free download", you'll come up with a few options gl!!

Agreed, these two games are hopefully going to put WoW to shame.
