| ths is my computer P4 3.00Ghz ht 1.00gig of ram DDR400 Kingmax radeon 9800XT 256 mb, 256 bit agp 8X motherboard with 800mhz fsb why does GTA san andreas, gothic 2, morrowind and pretty much all of my games take forever to load? SA even loads on the lowest setting possible, stil loads forever. about 5 minutes when i used to have 256 mb of ram and geforse fx 5200 256 mb the same thing was happening. just worse, the games crashed very often. affter i got the gig of ram, the games didnt crash too often but still crashed, and the loading times stayed the same. after i got a 9800XT, it improved my game performanse a little. but the loading times stayed the same. i have a friend who has a pentium 3 780 mhz, 256mb of ram, radeon 9200se 128 mb pci all his games load MUCH FASTER, SA on his comp takes 5 seconds, opposed to mine 5 minutes, ALL games take MUCH shorter to load on his comp. i hacve another friend who had a pc EXACTLY like mine, exept he had 512 mb of ram, and everything not only loaded faster, but the performanse was better than i have now. for example, Morrowind on his comp loading between cells was so fast that the loading area message didnt have time to pop up. morrowind on my comp still has pretty long area loading. i dont have a virus! I KNOW FOR A FACT, i formatted my com lots of times when i i installed new hardware expecting to test it on a clean computer. MY COMPUTER IS SUPERIOR TO ALL MY FRIENDS, WHY IS THIS SUPPERIOR COMPUTER ISNT PERFORMING THE WAY IT SHOULD? |

| Monster Techie | well, you talk of upgrading and swapping out most of your computer parts. did you ever think to reformat? you said you changed out your FX5200 for a 9800XT. one should ALWAYS reformat when you change video card companies like ATI and Nvidia, just to get all of the drivers out. if you havebn't reformatted, than thats what your problem is. |

If you aren't afraid of doing it GO for it. It will clear the spyware and tangles in the system that slow the computer down. Then, keep it clean and organized with disk defragmenter and you should have much better luck. | |

| Master Techie | Just backup your drivers folder this will save you lots of time. There is something really wrong though as I have exactly the same specs as you, but with a 6800 vanilla. All my games load quick DOOM3 in maybe 15 seconds and it gots a lot of crap to load. |

| well i rounded up my problem to 3 things harddrive, i got it from a PS2, its not that great though 520rpm 40 gigs ram might be the problem, i did the ram check with some devise, it told me Error 234345 does not mach up with 3453453 every 3 seconds also yesturday, something went kinda wron with my pc, and it just started randomly crashing 5 seconds after i turned on the PC i took one of the ram sticks out and it stopped crashing also the problem could be the power supply. which is still from a pentium 3 350 waatts i think it just didnt have enough power to support all the hardware i have, so that is why it might have stopped crashing after i took out one ram, it had less to suport |
