Default COD LAN directley connecting 2 PC's

I ahve COD 1, now I am using the same cd key, but I just want to see if it will work between to pc's in a direct connect between the two using a LAN cord.

OK, with one cd key on LAN, yes the game will play multiplayer but the two cannot play multiplayer online together because of the CD key being the same.
