| Cartoon shootout with Battlefield Heroes Source: Cartoon shootout with Battlefield Heroes
A new chapter in the Battlefield series is coming out soon, and there are free beta keys being handed out, so go over there this instant and get one for yourself!
The new game brings a huge change, instead of going for realism, they went for a cartoon look, which looks pretty stunning I think. Many will be deterred by this, I suspect especially hardcore gamers, but if I want realism I’ll jump down to a war zone and take a look myself. I think it’s quite unique and it makes the game more accessible to other ages and our friends of the female persuasion (I might be able to get my girlfriend to play a round with me!). |

| Re: Cartoon shootout with Battlefield Heroes It sucks. I can't even justify spending a few minutes explaining why.
Team Fortress 2 is by far the greatest cartoon shooter of all time.

| Re: Cartoon shootout with Battlefield Heroes Well come on. TF2 was YEARS in the making. It went though at least 2 graphical phases, countless class changes, and excruciating balancing. Not to mention its still getting free DLCs, and has one of the most dedicated communities I've seen since WC3.

Osirus you should have mentioned in your original post that DICE just shamefully copied the TF2 style of graphics and didn't even give an honerable nod to Valve or anything. ( Valve mentioned they were inspired by looney tunes and the incredibles ).
Either way I don't think graphics will affect how hardcore the audience is or not, that only affects casual shallow gamers. What affects the level of community is wether or not a game is actually good or not and can be competitive. Q3s graphics are pretty simple and that has one of the most hardcore communities ever.

| Re: Cartoon shootout with Battlefield Heroes I'm in the same boat as Havoc on this one. TF2 satisfies all of my cartoon shooting needs. But then again it's nice seeing big title games coming out that aren't all about realism.
On that note, BF2 is one of the best games ever made in my book.

It's like... dah dah.....dah.....dahhh!
Look... we have a cartoon shooter here on our hands.... let's load it up and see what's so special about it.
Ok... hmmm... it's cartoon graphics, military style and you have to capture some flags.... OH Boy.. would you look at that.... It's so new and revolutionary... (In my best Stewie voice)

(In my best Stewie voice) | this still doesn't really give me a good reason why its terrible, so I actually looked up some gameplay footage. Wow I was shocked at just how bad it looked and played. The graphics although asthetically pleasing are very static and the gameplay looks incredibly dumbed down ( which they claimed anyways ). Wow what a dissapointment, Quake 3 Arena makes this game look like a game for small children.

I played the beta for a few hours one day. I gave it a chance to impress me. It didn't impress me at all.
The whole time I played I just wanted to quit and go play TF2 or BF2.... Or anything else for that matter.
It's just be done already. It's like a cartoon shooter remake of any capture the flag game. It brings nothing new to the table. Nothing.
I understand it's Free... But, it doesn't deserve your precious gigabytez...
