Default Call of Duty: World at War unveiled

Quote:
Call of Duty 5: World at War will be set back in World War II in the Pacific theater.
It isn't a huge surprise - in fact, let's face it, it's exactly what we expected - but an official follow-up to last year's Call of Duty 4 has now been unveiled. Call of Duty 5 is a go.

According to reports from the latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine, the new game will be titled Call of Duty: World at War and will be developed by Treyarch, not Infinity Ward.

Call of Duty 5: World at War is going to eschew the modern update of Infinity Ward's recent game and will instead take the game back to the roots of the franchise, which is either a good or a bad thing dependent on how resistant to change you are.

World at War will be set in the Pacific theater during World War II, which begs the question of why the game isn't called Call of Duty 5: World at War, Again.

According to the report from Xbox Magazine, Treyarch is planning to make the game more of a survival horror experience than other games in the series by exploring "the darkest corners of WWII...tackling darker themes" and ptting players against "a new, seemingly alien fighting force."

Infinity Ward, who did sterling work with Call of Duty 4 have not explained why they won't be developing the next game in the franchise.

Lets just hope the game doesn't end up all Warrior Within meets Predator, eh?

"ptting players against a new, seemingly alien fighting force."

You have got to be kidding me. If they turn it into some WW2 / Alien invasion its going to be horrible. The reason why we buy CoD is for the realism not to fight @#!$$%# aliens. Another great game going down in flames....

i think they meant alien as in like unknown not as aliens. Thats why they said seemingly, because to the player, the enemy is seemingly unknown. Now the question is who is this alien force? France. JK

on subject though, im betting this new force is japan. Seeing it is the pacific, japan would make since (if im getting my history right) and the reason there 'alien' is probably because of the change in tactics the Japanese used from the german/american tactics. Cant wait though

It would be pretty bad if they made the same mistakes twice.

well maybe now that infinity ward isnt doing it.. maybe now it finally means the game won't be so freakin' linear.. i'm tired of being able to play the game 1 way.. thats so.. like... nintendo 64...
