BF2 rejects connection

i recently did a clean install of BF2 with windows vista and I've played it fine on Vista before but now every time i connect to the account sever i get an error messeage saying server has rejected connection, also when I load up BF2 the colours on the desktop change and go all weird,

im running it as adminastrator which you should do for bf2 and i am definately connected to the internet, can anyone give me advice on how to connect to the account server. thanks
