Battlefield 2142 rank question

Right, at the moment im "Brigadier General" (over 60K points) and my next rank is "Major General" but theres not a target score for me to reach(it just says my score/0) all the time, so im left wondering what do i have to do to reach my promotion?
I asked in-game and someone on the other team reckoned that you need to be awarded the rank by EA themselfs?

Anyone actually know 100% what the answer is to this? :snob:

With bf2142 there is a dx error with the sound, go to dxdiag type that in to run and disable the sound things.
