They are going for $1600 + on eBay right now! People with pre-orders are scanning their reciepts and selling the playstation 3's that they will be picking up on Friday.
It's really something what is happening here. You have a new generation console being released a month before Christmas and there really aren't that many to go around (400,000 in US). Also it doubles as a Blu-ray disc player using a new technology to yield a better picture quality (blu-ray disc players right now cost $999) .
People want these for more reasons than the few games that will come out at release. The fact that having one will be so exclusive is another appealing factor, especially to parents wanting to make their kids feel extra special/ happy on Christmas. Imagine being a kid and your dad gets you one of these- EVERYONE is going to want to come over and hang out and check it out. **** I'm in college and I would be anyone's friend to go experience it first hand on a 60 inch HDTV running through the entire Call of Duty 3 game!
Basically, the fact that it's coming before Christmas and that it will be so hard/ epensive to get one automatically adds appeal. I kick myself for not having gotten a pre-order, I can't afford to wait outside of Bestbuy for 3 days. Imagine the excitement of listing one of those on eBay in December watching the bidding wars of last minute parents and millionaire CEO's hundreds and hundreds of dollars over what you paid for it  !
lol best of luck to any of you guys that wait outside to get one, Best Buy stores will have 25-26 on average but try to pick a crappy place people don't generally go to for electronics like Target :bald: :bald:
