| The Future of Video Games. I was reading an article the other day about how video games have evolved over the years. It was mainly focusing on how they evolved just over the year of 2007, and how developers are bringing morality and emotional themes into the entertainment industry in ways that movies and TV cannot.
Example: In Bioshock the player is given the choice of whether or not they will harvest Adam from the little girl, or save her. The fact that the player has a choice to make opens up a whole new way of looking at how video games could be used.
I was curious what you guys think about the game industry today, and how you would like games to evolve in the years to come.
I'll start us off.
I would like to see more games challenge our morality, and force us to make difficult decisions. I would like to see stories that are more structured, and in depth than most of the games are today.
I would also like to see:
More Destructible Environments,
More new IPs.
Massive open ended maps.
More Fun MMORPGS.
More Battlefield-esque games.
MORE SUPPORT FOR QUAD CORE PROCESSORS!!!
More Ports from consoles that actually run well on the PC.
More Developers and Publishers that actually care about, not only their consumers, but making games that are actually worth playing. |

| Re: The Future of Video Games. i want a game like oblivion elder scrolls 4 but with guns, becuase the map in oblivion is huge so if u had guns it would make it more interesting.
also i would like more games like "ghost recon advanced warfighter 1 and 2, all the fps out right now have very little if any tactics involved.

| Re: The Future of Video Games. For me, the game almost has to be a multiplayer online game. I can't go back to games where's its just you, playing by yourself threw the game, bored the **** out of me. And obviously, its rare that the games coming out don't have some kind of online mulitplayer option.
I would like to see a game like GTA but made in a MMORPG setting. As for the morality choices, I think most people choose what they wouldn't choose in real life, cause at the and of the day, no one whats to play a game thats too real, that defeats the purpose of playing it.
Also, more games that can be played together by people on different platforms, ie PS3, xbox and pc can all play online together.

| Re: The Future of Video Games. There was a mod for GTA3 on the computer that let you have a mmorpg style. When I first saw it, it was really glitchy so I don't know if it ever turned out good.
And games that challenge my morality doesn't seem like a bonus to me since I will just do whatever gives me the most gains. I did love fable but I didn't care about the choices because when available I would play both good and evil. A lot of times I would just do the good mission and then kill the guy or whatever.
I would like a strategy game like the old Star Wars Rebellion where you go around with galatic fleets to take over whole planets. So you are in the highest command level. But once you get to those planets I would like for it to have command on a lower level like normal RTS where you just command the tanks and whatever. Basically combine the two sub-genres of RTS into one game but do a good job at it.

| Re: The Future of Video Games. I like FPS's, but the single player versions are boring (as said above). Even COD4 was boring to me (only played a few levels). I like RPGs that have a good story, but I steer clear of fantasy RPG for personal reasons from my past. A good sci-fi RPG would be awesome. |

| Re: The Future of Video Games. As previously mentioned, i would like a game like Elder Scrolls but in modern day, and a larger much more varied map with no load times e.g. 3 or 4x the size, with desert, canyons, dense forest, open space, lakes, mountains.. villages and small towns not cities however. With about 500 or 600 weapons, and graphics that are 3 or 4x more realistic than Crysis's. And very customisable difficulty settings.
And it to run at a massive resolution like 4xxxx by 2xxxx
I'll just keep dreaming now, but maybe by the release of the PS4 or next xbox, who knows |

| Re: The Future of Video Games. I always play morality based games the way I would do things in real life. I was 100% good in Fable, KotOR, Bioshock, etc.
I agree with Oriox, but I would rather that game be an FPS with thousands of people playing on a realistic continent using realistic physics in a realistic way....Think Planetside, but with destructible environments, physics, etc. It would be a constantly shifting battlefield based on how well your team was combating the other team. Once a week the server would reset, and the environments would be restored to their original state. |

| Nah. Have them regenerate at a set pace. Not respawn, but regenerate, repair themselves slowly. |
