Down load a program like Everest Home Edition and find the sensor tab under the computer tab. And While playing CS Alt+Tab out and check the CPU temps. For a P4 Anything below 55-60c (not farenhite) is fine. For AMD it is about the same but AMD run quite alot cooler. If your CPU is hitting mid to high 50's while playing a game it is most likley your CPU is overheating. But if the CPU temp is fine you may have the problem like my brother dose is its actually the power supply that overheats. It is quike uncommon for a power supply to overheat but if your in a warm room it can happen. Heres the link to everest. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html It would also help if we have your system specifications.

| I'm having the same problem but it happens in all of my games and I've found out the cpu is overheating. My idle temp is 54c and when I play games it sets off the mother monitor alarm at 70c which is way too hot. I need to get some extra cooling but I thought I had enough and it's only started happening just recently so I think it might have something to do with the fan. My fan speed is 2500rpm is that alright or does it need to be faster? Anyway worth checking out your fans rpm and cpu temp.
