| Ubuntu 7.04 Reaches EOL on 10/19 Ubuntu 7.04 Reaches EOL on 10/19
Still using Ubuntu 7.04? It reaches its end-of-life on 10/19 and will no longer be supported in security notices after that date. It’s time for you to move on if you’re still clinging to 7.04. According to the article, 7.10 will be your upgrade path. Good luck! The support period is now nearing its end and Ubuntu 7.04 will reach end of life on Sunday, October 19th, 2008. At that time, Ubuntu Security Notices will no longer include information or updated packages for Ubuntu 7.04. |

| Re: Ubuntu 7.04 Reaches EOL on 10/19 If you're using 7.04, anything earlier, or even 7.10...time to get 8.04 already! Ubuntu you don't need to be stuck on an outdated version since the updates are free. I don't know why anyone would still be on anything but 8.04, and come this October, I'll have 8.10 on my comp as soon as I can get it downloaded. There's no excuse for not staying on top with Ubuntu.

| Re: Ubuntu 7.04 Reaches EOL on 10/19 I can see why big companies who use mass amounts of Ubuntu machines would only stick to LTS releases. Think about it... reimaging a couple hundred computers every 6 months? ****. I think I'd be stickin to long term supported releases if I were in those shoes.
But if I remember correctly, 6.06 was the last LTS besides 8.04. *shrug* ?? |

| Re: Ubuntu 7.04 Reaches EOL on 10/19 6.06 was the first LTS, 8.04 is the current short-term and LTS release, and 8.04 will remain the current LTS until 2 years from now.

| Re: Ubuntu 7.04 Reaches EOL on 10/19 I'm really happy with 8.04, so it's nice to see such a solid release being on the LTS list. Every once in a while when we have tech meetings I try to push creating an Ubuntu computer lab just for testing. In one, we already put OpenOffice in to test-drive and see how it works now. Now if I can just get them to drop XP... |

| Re: Ubuntu 7.04 Reaches EOL on 10/19 Pretty sure there's a Unix lab somewhere on this campus (I'm at Missouri S&T) because I'm on the robotics team and we used PuTTY to access a remote Unix (or Linux, they said it was Unix) terminal from Windows machines (though I had my Ubuntu laptop so I didn't have to remote in, only those stuck on Windows machines had to, stupid Windows users lol).

| Re: Ubuntu 7.04 Reaches EOL on 10/19 Yeah. I've talked to quite a few people from Ubuntu forums who are district techs and use Ubuntu as a large part, if not on all of their workstations. They are typically working for some sort of a tech college in parts of California, though, whereas I am working for two elementary schools and a middle school in the central **** hole of Pennsylvania.
Maybe someday, though... when I become an IT director. Ahhh. |
