| I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this question in, but: for the past 3 or 4 days I have been having a hard time accessing certain videos on youtube. I'd say 1 out of 4 videos won't play; the video loading screen just stays there forever. I was wondering if this is a recent problem with youtube, or whether this is just a problem with my computer. I've tried to access these videos that don't work, with Firefox, IE, and Netscape. I've tried some adjustments to my firewall and even shutting the entire fire wall down. I've tried watching them while logged in to youtube, and without being logged in. I know I'm using the newest version of Adobe Flash Player. I even tried using a registry cleaner in the hopes that this would somehow fix things. And still it's the same symptom: a lot of videos (about 1 in 4), regardless of their subject or content, won't load, and exhibit the same symptom: the video box displaying the loading icon... forever. It never loads. I have noticed that on my status bar it will say "waiting for lax-vXX.lax.youtube.com..." where the "XX" are is a different number depending on the video I'm trying to watch. Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, maybe I should also add that I connect to the internet via cable modem and I have a static IP.

| Found the solution. This is a problem for a lot of people around the world. the "lax" and "ash" and other letters in the address is the name of the location of the Youtube server. The solution is to go find yourself a transparent proxy to run through. If one proxy doesn't work, find another one. The only youtube server I've been having trouble with and require a proxy for is the "lax" (Las Angeles) server.
