Yeah, so I am thinking of buying the new Fugifilm Finepix S5700, great camera for its price, anywho, it can take both SD and xD cards. I checked it up on wikipedia and the only info I could get really was that xD cards transfer slower than SD cards, well, at least the higher speed ones.

Anywho, wondering what the advantage, if any, xD cards have over SD cards apart from using less power and being smaller, right now I reakon I will just buy one of the 2gb SanDisk Ultra III ones.

Well, SD cards are cheaper, more widely available and are available in higher capacities.

I have a Fujifilm FinePix S5600 (aka S5200 in the US), and it does not disappoint. Shutter speed is fantastic and image clarity is excellent. Battery life is excellent too!

The S5700 has many improvements over mine including a more intelligent flash, improved menu interface, bigger LCD, higher ISO, larger megapixel CCD sensor and better egonomics. It's a superb SLR like camera.

The S5700 has a higher ISO sensitivity than the Canon PowerShot S3 IS digital camera (ISO 1600 compared to ISO 800. Twice the sensitivity). For that reason, I say go for the S5700.

buy a sd card, Sandisk is overrate as I have two and my PQI is actually better.
