Default X-FI or audigy

well I was looking at this X-Fi sound card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102188

and this audigy card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102178

Now wich is a better "bang for the buck" Now i noticed that the audigy is OEM, now that just means no setup disc right?

okay I am just curious: is the thing between the X-Fi and the audigy a ford/chevy thing? Becuase correct me if I am wrong arent they both made by the same company?

Anyways I have also heard that the X-FI is just a flashy, shiny version of the audigy series.

X-Fi is a completely different arcitecture.

If you plan on using anything but JUST WINDOWS then get anything but an X-Fi, but if you want to JUST USE WINDOWS AND NOTHING ELSE EVER then go with the X-Fi.

I agree, don't expect to find any drivers any time soon for linux or other OSes.

now I also noticed a different looking connector on the back of the X-FI and the same thing on the back of the x-5500 sound system.

What does it do?

The whole Audigy line from creative is crap, don't even consider it. The X-fi is decent and would also work very well as a digital transport. You people don't know how to shop around for good deals, do you? I found an X-fi xtrememusic here for $100 shipped:
http://www.pricegrabber.com/user_sal...lot_id=3698405

Or if you dont want that, look at this:
http://www.pricegrabber.com/user_sal...lot_id=3278796

Or if you dont want to go through pricegrabber:
http://www.pagecomputers.com/store/p...ct%5Fid=861215

Or some great ebay deals:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Creative-Labs-So...QQcmdZViewItem
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Creative-Sou...QQcmdZViewItem

And the best deal yet, but it's used:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Creative-Sound-B...QQcmdZViewItem
