| Windows 7 not playing 5.1 Hi,
I'm having a little issue here. I' using windows7 and I have an Audigy 2 value. I have the lastest drivers, but the max sound is really low and the audio console is not giving me the whole options I used to have on Xp (Surround sound, or presets) so I can't use my 5.1 set of speakers. It's only stereo.
So I tried on the onboard audio card. The 5.1 works with the lastest drivers but still when I play music it's only stereo. But I can hear in the audio set-up the 6 channels working.
Any ideas? |

| Re: Windows 7 not playing 5.1 Control Panel>Sound
Click on the speakers and click Configure. There you will see the option to setup your speakers to 5.1 instead of Stereo.

| Re: Windows 7 not playing 5.1 No this isn't it. Don't worry, that was configured long ago. In game, my 5.1 is working, it's only not working with winamp. |

| Re: Windows 7 not playing 5.1 That is a issue with the music. It is not encoded for 5.1 sound. It is only stereo. Which is why it only plays out of 2 speakers.

| So is there a way I could use my 6 channels for music, cause I try to see in winmap and the surround sound option is on, but still only stereo
And why my audigy 2 didn't work properly? Like I said, there was missing options in the Audio Console. Would you know why?

| Re: Windows 7 not playing 5.1 You would have to find a way to force WinAmp to split the Stereo signal to surround. Maybe there is a plugin or something that can do it.
Your Audigy 2 might not have had the proper drivers. Did you get them from the Creative site? I can tell you from personal experience with my Audigy 2ZS that the "Drivers" they give are troublesome. I had to manually check their forums for better drivers by Daniel K.
Creative has limited alot of what the Audigy series can do in Vista and Win7 as they want people to upgrade to the X-Fi series.

| Re: Windows 7 not playing 5.1 Ok I see.
Cause yeah I was using the drivers from creative. I tried 2.18 and even the one especially made for Vista 64. But, with both tries, two fails... |

| Re: Windows 7 not playing 5.1 Try to find the Daniel K Drivers. He has unlocked them to give you more options which includes the Audio Console among other things like the EQ and that. Creative was trying to push users to buying new products.

| Re: Windows 7 not playing 5.1 Im pretty sure you can do that with most Creative products. Im on onboard Realtek audio and i know even the RealTek HD Audio manager has the feature: 'Speaker Fill'.
Pretty much forces stereo to play on all speakers, and when there is a 5.1 source does as supposed to.
