If you have a DV camera, you can make it write the movie back to DV as a AVI-DV file. (Really Good Quality)

If you want your video to look good get vegas. If you want them to look professinal get Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5

WMVE9 is a good format to encode in. But the quality sucks compared to an uncompressed AVI-DV file.all of the work I do is sent right back to a DV., because the video is DVD quality.
