Default VHS to PC newbie question...

Hey guys,

The parents are really interested in me putting their old VHS tapes on dvd. I've searched all over the internet looking for what requirements I need out of a capture card. None of which I am seeing that have an audio in port?? I have spdif in and out on my mobo which I'm hoping can be used as well But I'm not sure.

Basically what do I need? The parents said they'll buy the software if I buy the hardware. So here's my plan, get a capture card under 150 if possible and spend about 450-500 on software... What would you guys suggest? I have no idea how to do this... I'm assuming the software from pinnacle would get it done... But just what am i looking for in a capture card? I know analog in but what else? Also what software would you guys suggest. Thanks!

a capture card had audio out, you plug that into the "line in" of your sound card (this way, no conflicting sound cards). get a card and virtual dub (free and good). don't get pinnacle
