Unhappy USB to 3.5 MM Plug

Ok. I'm buying new a pair of AXPC 5.1 Gaming Headphones and am wondering if an adapter exists to make the USB turn into a 3.5 MM jack for my ipod. I realize that the headphones require the power from the USB and am wondering if theres some sort of box type thing with a USB in and a battery pack to supply power to the headphones and come out the other end as a 3.5 MM jack. Or if it is possible to create one of these

Any help or input is appreciated. (Wish apple would have just used a normal USB plug in the end so this wouldn't put me through so much grief. I guess they feel the need to screw everyone over and make there own adapter and cord that costs 30 bucks to replace. Lame )

Not likely...

I've never heard of such a box.

Ive noticed some 3.5 MM headsets have a box on them with a battery pack to supply power. Does anyone know if i could somehow splice the USB the cord coming out of the box into a USB adapter to receive my headset and accept power from the box?
