Default Is there a way to increase a players max volume output?

I've noticed that some players like VLC have higher max volumes and was wondering if there was a way to increase the max volume of other players.

I ask about this because I have an integrated sound card and when volumes are too loud, there is a constant fuzzy noise in the background and it becomes impossible to hear somethings. I use VLC for most videos now because its max volume is a little higher but now I need other players to have that higher volume.

I meant something more along the lines of the changing the programs themselves and not buying anything for now.

you will get distortion by increasing the drive level. a pci sound card will already have more voltage on the outputs.
