Default Surround Sound

alright, im trying to set up surround sound on my computer. I have a soundblaster live 24 bit, and 5.1 channel surround sound speakers with an amp, and i am running windows xp 64 bit.

it is all set up properly, and in control panel under sound i have selected 5.1 channel surround sound. I know that it is working because in Counter-Strike Source on the sound test all 5 speakers and the sub all go in sequence of when they should play.

this is where the problem comes in. In all other programs such as Itunes and Media player, if i play anything, it will only come out the left and right speakers, leaving the rear speakers and sub noiseless...?

how can this be fixed ??

thanks

i don't think there is any software :s, you're talking about the creative software yes ? i'm quite sure it only installs the drivers and no software when you have 64 bit...

EDIT,
ok i am now downloading Vienna SoundFont Studio 2.40.60 and Creative Basic Audio Suite for Creative Sound Blaster audio devices, from the creative site, under software for my soundcard. hopefully one of these can save me.

ok great, but what i meant was the software your using itself. Is there settings for sound in each one?
for example: under wmp's tool>option>device>speaker, there are options there, im just guessing its software related

Default Re: Surround Sound

i fixed it, after i got Creative Basic Audio Suite, i opened an app it included called creative EAX console, and then i ticked a box saying enable CMSS 3D, now i just need to decide which is better, CMSS or stereo surround.

any suggestions. this is what it says.

CMSS
Classic 3D upmix effect. Ideal for audio CDs, WMAs, MP3s and other stereo audio sources.

Stereo Surround
In multi speaker setups, the stereo signal is player over each speaker pair (stereo x2 or stereo x3)

it gives me the option of choosing 1 of these after i originally choose to enable CMSS 3D (like sub menus of it)

so far the only difference i can notice is that Stereo is a bit louder, does anybody know the real difference and which is better ?

thanks again

i have an x-fi and i find that CMSS 3d sound crappy but theres no other choice so i just choose CMSS surround, i guess u should stick with stereo surround in the end it all comes down to whats best for your ears thats why they put so many options into this software.
