if you can get a paradigm dealer, the atom retail for 149 bucks. they are by far the best sounding speaker in that price range

partsexpress is the way to go if you want to do a high end DIY project.

try meniscus and madisound too

I ending up finding a pair of JBL Northridge E30's on Ebay. Got them for $80 shipped, brand new in box. http://www.800stereo.com/prods/jbl-e30.html

I like them. The titanium tweeter is just a little bit bright above 14k compared to my Genesis speakers with the silk tweeter, but I expected that and that's what a good EQ is for.

The midrange and mid highs are very clear and have really good off-axis sound. Although it could use a little more in the 3k to 4k range, that's really a personal preference thing.

The bass is amazingly deep for speakers that size. The tuning port is actually tuned low enough that it doesn't resonate annoying mid-bass frequencies (like many cheaper tuned speakers that size).

The construction is top notch. These things are SOLID and surprised me when the UPS guy dropped off the box. I practically had to roll it into my apartment. 16 or so lbs. each.

Price, SQ, and everything else considered, 5 out of 5 stars.

If I had paid full price, probably 4 out of 5.

Gratz on the find - always satsifying to find a good pair of speakers.

I have heard those speakers before and they do sound good.. they hold up to the JBL name very well.

i wouldn't buy many things there, they're pretty expensive compared to other places online.
