Unhappy Speaker/Headphone jack Problems

"re-posted to this location as i thaught i'd get a better response in this area"

Hello there, my first post on this forum and i hope to be abled to help in any way if possible! I am usually pretty good at solving problems with my pc logically, but. . .

Just the other day, my younger brother managed to break my front headphone jack (green one), it is actually snapped off the circuit board within. since this happened, my rear audio jack, also green, seems to only be playing sounds really quietly, i have tried all the sound properties and options within my pc and have had no success. one thing i managed was to plug my speakers into a blue audio jack on the rear of my pc and change the options on my sound effect manager to make my pc use the blue jack as my rear speakers, doing this i can listen to music but when i play games the audio is messed up, i cant seem to make it use the blue jack as the front speakers.

so. . . baisically what im looking for, is a way to use the blue or pink socket/jack to work as my front speakers instead of my rear speakers. . .
Cheers!
Raz

No, there isn't any way you can do that with software. That sucks though...

I hate to say it, seeing as you said you aren't very computer literate, you may have to buy a soundcard.

hmm the thing is, its all onboard and the soundcard is built into the motherboard. . . is there a way to trick the pc into thinking the blue socket is the green one? that would solve my problems for now?? cheers anyway pall!

argh. . . ha ha, i have been thinking.
its the front headphone socket(green) on the pc not the rear one that was broken, so why is the rear one affected? The front of the pc had 2 usb ports a microphone socket and a headphone socket(well it did have the headphone socket) all mounted onto a pcb that is connected via 2 plugs, if i remove that will my sound still be affected, removing the 2 usb ports would be inconvenient but not greatly problematic. . . .
greatly appreciate the input, and appreciate more!
thanks

I'm sorry. I just notice headphone jack. I was thinking headphone. post a picture of your computer with the side off so I can show you how to disconnect or disable the front jack (if it can be done. it can on most mobo's)

I'll post a picture when i get back from work. thanks, but i'd rather not mess arround with solder as last time i tried to fix a pcb, i bridged a gap between 2 lines that where supposed to go through a resistor and unfortunately i had an overload. . . hahaha
