Sound Lagging?

Tried playing some music this morning and my sound was skipping like a CD player. Tried a game then and it still lagged and skipped. It seems like its something actually on my PC, not my hardware. Any ideas what I can do?

not enough resources to run the media player. Do some spyware scans and check your system processes to make sure nothing is hiding in the background that shouldn't be.

I don't see anything out of the ordinary running. I updated my drivers and it cuts out less, but its still fruequent.
