are you sure decibels are relative?!

i think reason of dB being different for the 2 scenarios you metioned is that it increases exponentially...

as far as i know... there is no such a thing as "10dB" by itself. but you can say "10dB from 0VU", or for this matter "100dB per watt".

in that case, all measurements are relative

15 miles = 15 miles from 0

decibels do increase exponentially, the relative part i am unsure of

sorry i only know the word "relative" for those kind of things. because im not a native english speaker. so i have to even look up what "exponentially" means. (and still not 100% sure what that means...cuz right at the moment i do not have japanese/english dictionary...sorry...) anyway, 15miles is a fixed value. which means 15miles never changes from 15 miles. but 15dB by itself doesnot mean anything. cuz its not a fixed value. thats all i was saying. sorry if my english wasnt good enough for some ppl.
