Bose are good in the eyes of those who no little about audio, anyone that knows a fair bit will tell you they are an evil company and do not make good speakers or headphones.
Get some Sennheiser CX500's.

Sennheiser > bose, and most other brands (including sony)
But there are better brands: Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic, AKG, Ultimate Ears, Etymotic, Shure,

Yes... but they won't have the slightly-boomy-bass that many newcomers to headphones find pleasing. And there pretty bright too, some people don't like this.
