Default SD Card Reader Problem

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. It has an SD card reader built in to it, but it does not seem to be working. I checked in the device manager and it says that it is functioning properly. However, when I put the SD card in the reader nothing happens. I figured that it would just show up in explorer, but it doesn't. The card I am putting in is the one that came with a digital camera I just purchased. It is a Canon Multimedia Card. Any ideas to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Weird, have you tried any other card?
So you say you don't find any other drive listed in "my computer". Might be some driver issue.

Yeah nothing shows up in my computer. All I see there is my local disk, the CDRW/DVD Drive, and my network drive. I haven't tried another card, but the one I am using is literally brand new. I just bought the camera that it came with yesterday, so I doubt that the card itself is the problem. I got on dell.com to look for a driver but they didn't seem to have one for it. Does anyone know of a some sort of generic driver that would possibly fix this?
