Default SB X-FI Xtreme Gamer [NO SOUND]

I plugged in my old sound card for my new build to hold me over until I get a new sound card..

I installed a "vista 64bit" driver and the diagnostic check says everything is working.. but I have no sound at all..

Here is a picture of the Creative panel and audio panel..

Go to the control panel and make sure SB-X-Fi Audio is selected as windows default sound device.

Check volume levels, make sure the wave balance is all the way up. And a kind of stupid one, but make sure your speakers/headphones are plugged into the right jack.

Ive put mine into the wrong one many times, and wondered why i wasnt getting any sound.

All of that is correct..

If you look at the picture.. the creative panel volume things are not enabled..

My guess is that this is the driver? and this is what is causing it not to work?

I am installing the latest driver from creatives website.. although I think I already have it installed..

sometimes it's a pain getting the x-fi to work. I sometime have to uninstall and reinstall 3 different times to get it right. the 64 bit driver is really a pain

yup. 64bit + x-fi drivers are a crap shoot. you just have to keep trying. Thats a driver issue for sure.

I installed and reinstalled 3 times.. 3rd time I boot up I hear the windows startup sound... and it works now..

I really need to get that other sound card soon.. Creative drivers suck.

This computer is actually running smoothly now.. when I forst got it hardly nothing would work.. now that it has all of the updates.. it's fairly nice..
