Default Record Audio Output?

Does anyone know if there's a way to set your computer's audio output as your recording input without the use of an external cable? I'm using XP pro.

Audacity can record "what you hear."

Does that help?

That will do it, but isn't there a way to do it w/out third party software? It seems like you should be able to set the recording source as your line out somehow. Thanks for the link.

I guess you could use Sound Recorder, but Audacity is much more powerful... and it's free, so who cares?

How would you do it using sound recorder? That would answer my original question.

I have no idea, I've heard people say it's possible but I don't know how to do it. I know how to do it in Audacity though ... that way you can record for longer than 60 seconds.

You can record more than 60 sec in sound recorder. Anyone else know how to set the audio out as your recording source?

How? When I press record, it stops after 60 seconds. You can press record again as soon as it stops but that leaves a gap.
