Default Recommend some good computer speakers :]

Hey guys my brother asked me what kind of computer speakers I would want if he bought me some and I had no idea what to say :X

Could you guys help me pick out a good set of speakers for a great price?
Not sure what my price range is but I want a great price to performance

Kinda vague but thanks guys :]

Also will I need a new sound card? I'm using what is in here and as far as I know all it says is Realtek High definition audio

What is your price range? If you are an audiophile, your definition of "good" will be expensive, if you're not, you may think differently about good. Are you looking for powerful bass? Clear midrange/treble? Or are you just looking to get away from the cheap ones that came with your PC? Do you want 2, 2.1, 5.1, or 7.1 sound?

As for your sound card, Realtek is the basic integrated sound that is usually built into your motherboard. It's good enough for most things, but if you are using really good speakers or headphones, you can hear noise from them (hissing, weird noise from motor interference, etc).

My speakers: Creative Inspire T3100 ($50 when I got them)

They're pretty basic, it's a 2.1 system (two satellites and a subwoofer), but they sound pretty good and the tiny subwoofer puts out a pretty powerful sound for its size. They're good enough for my dorm room setup and are good for gaming.

Do you want active or passive speakers? Do you want to run them off your computer or via an amp/receiver which is connected to your computer?

Well I can get more info from my brother about price range

Hmm I do a lot of gaming and my brother and I play music so great sound is desired of course.

Nothing too bassy and clear sound mostly looking to yeah...get away from my computer speakers

Hmm what do you guys recommend for 2.1 5.1 7.1

When is the difference apparent? I mostly hear about 5.1 but I'm sure it gets pricey

1102 reviews with over 90% of them being around 5 stars, $300 is cheap.

In your case: Newegg.com - Logitech X-540 70 watts 5.1 Speaker - Speakers

You never did give a price range or state if you want active or passive speakers so it's kind of hard to suggest equipment that meets your needs. Let us know so we can help you better.
