Default Question about hooking up a dvd player?

i have a HP Pavilion Elite m9250f and i was wondering how i can get a regular DVD player to work using the Audio
&video port on the front ive tried and cant figure out what i am doing wrong TIA:o

Why not just play the DVD in the computer...
