I use a headset for a voice recognition program on my PC. The cable on the headset splits into two input pieces: a black one for the headset and a green one for the microphone.
Now, my computer has two slots where I can plug these into: two at the front and two at the back. At first I tried to plug them in at the front, but it would only let me here through the headset and not use the microphone. I can plugging in at the back and it works perfectly, but it is more of a hassle to plug them in back there.

Does anyone have any idea why my front two input jacks won't recognize my microphone?

What do you mean not connected? I mean, the plugs are there, so shouldn't they be connected by default? The headset one seems to work, but not the microphone.

Is there any way I can connect it?

Another thing, when I plug the mic in at the front it makes s short noise, but does not record or anything. Does the short noise mean that it is connected, but there might be something wrong with the hardware?
