Default Odd problem with speakers

Not too long ago I bought a set of Creative Labs speakers. They had a problem where for the first 3 minutes or so of being in use, the volume constantly changed by itself.

I returned them, got a new set... same thing is happening.

I'm wondering if this could be a problem with my onboard audio, or if the Creative I-Trigue 3330's are just ridiculously bad? I used to have a pair of crappy dell speakers hooked up... and I don't remember any problems. I also have no problems with my headphones.

Any ideas? Wanna make sure the problem isn't on my end before I try to return these again.
