Default not able to hear sound or record sound

Hello.

I just bough a headset for my PC with a mic.
I am not able to hear so record sound with it.

I have tried to connec it to the sound card in the back of my PC but no luck.
The head set has a green cable for the speaker a pink cable for audio.

Here are two PIcs of what I have in the back of my PC.
Please help me to see where should I connect this

red to red (pink) <----- microphone

green to green <----- audio in stereo

What soundcard is that in the second picture?
Which of those is the default in windows?

You need to adjust the settings in control panel -> sounds -> recording.

Make sure that you have something selected as the default recording device.

Then make sure that you have microphone and/or rear mic enabled.

What do you want to use the headset for? In most cases, the program like most IM's for example have their own sound settings so you have to adjust those as well.
