Default no audio or mic sound after downgrading to win xp from win vista

good mornin folks i have another issue. i hope im posting this up in the right section.
the issue is = i have a e-machine desk top i bought a couple of months ago. it came preloaded with vista.
i did a complete fomat (long version with the xp disk in the comp) and installed win xp on a raw C DRIVE. after the installation i had no really big issues except i cannot get any sound from my speakers or my mic. it is dead to sound.
i went to start>control panel>sounds and audio devices then checked each tab there
it as if they are there but like shadows.
what do oyu think i need to do to correct this prob?
maybe a driver ?
i dont know im pretty new to this.
thanx

i looked and you are correct..it states there is no drivers for this device
were can i get the driver or it?
i have the reinstall/recovery dvd that came with the comp but it has vista on it.
can i just use the driver portion of the recovery disk to pull out the needed driver for my issue?
would it be compatible with the xp program?

It might work as a last resort. Still, better to install the the required Windows XP drivers for your computer.

If you provide us with the specific model of your eMachine PC we should be able to help you find the correct audio driver.

Hello,

You have Realtek HD Audio. You can download the driver for Windows XP at the Realtek website, here:

Realtek HD Audio Driver Download

Note that you should also install all the other Windows XP drivers for your devices, especially your onboard graphics, and chipset drivers.
