Default Newbie Who Can't See Videos - At All

A woman I work with cannot see video on her HP notebook. It's an NC6000, running XP Professional. It has the same standard configuration and hardware as everyone else in our group, and she's the only one having problems. Details:
* She can hear but cannot see streaming video on the web. Either from internal business sites or external sites.
* She can hear but cannot see any type of video files saved on her hard drive.
* HERE'S THE GOTCHA: When I link to her notebook through NetMeeting, the videos play just fine. Both when I take control of her cursor and start the videos myself, and when I am just an observer and she has control of the machine.
Can anyone give us any suggestions? I'm stumped. Thank you.

If she can hear the video but can't see it, that means she needs the correct codec install. What is the file extension of the video files? (mpg, avi, mov) ?
