Default New speakers aren't working with applications.

I just put in new speakers but out of both the devices and applications section... the devices show that music is playing... which is why i get sound when windows does something like shuts down. But applications I can't get any music. I'm using vista ultimate. Any ideas?

Google for KLite Codec, CCCP, AC3Filter or Vista Codec Pack. Anyone of those will be of great use. Try them and see if it helps.

When i run the test button on the remote... the speakers work... They are plugged in 6 Ch Direct. It doesn't make any sense to me. When i go to the volume control... Device says that there is sound coming through.. but the application themselves... won't make a whisper.

Then i honestly dont know. If you have checked the Control Panel sound properties to make sure that the sound card is the output device and all that then my only suggestion would be to try to update the drivers. Use something like Driver Cleaner Pro to remove all the old drivers and see if that helps any.

All drivers are updated as well... I'm wondering now If i connect it using a different cable. Right now I have the green black and orange cable. The speakers are capable of different wiring options... and my mobo has a port (that i've never used before)... I think its called sp/dif?? What kind of cable would I be looking at. And please correct me if that is not the name of it.
