Default New PC Speakers, Again :)

Ok so i want some new pc speakers to replace my Z5500's, my ATH-D40fs headphones sound great... but theres nothing like great quality loud thumping music, something my Z5500's didnt quite meet unfortunately, so this time i was wondering wether its possible to plug non pc speakers, like shelf speakers, Monitor speakers or whatever. Into my PC through a soundcard (Soon to be X-Fi Music, Gamer, whatever...X-Fi something lol).

No need for 5.1, just stereo, they dont have to have a sub just good bass (deeeep) but not overpowering. And ofcourse this is all down to wether it is possible to plug them into my pc.

Im not really sure what i should be looking for... hi fi speakers shelf speakers like jbl sony (Obviously good ones) ?, or Monitors or what?

Thanks, any help appreciated.

Hmm wonder wether i'll ever get bored with buying new speakers... meh i doubt it

If the line from the computer is to an amp and not a speaker, it'll work. Otherwise, there is a risk that you might fry your soundcard if the speaker draws too much power. I have two shelf speakers but they are connected to a subwoofer/amp unit which is connected to the PC.

Hmm, they wont have any amp to go into really. They will really need to go into the PC. Unless theres some kind of amp that you can buy so you can put them into pc through 3.5mm jakc, if not, im inventing one

so anyone else got any ideas ?

radio shack have connectors to go from pc to receiver (or amp or studio monitors). you will need an amp or receiver to push your speaker, unless they are powered speakers like studio monitors.

So lets say, i spent £200 on some Studio Monitors... what would i need to set it all up, would it involve spending a lot more money ?

If i was going to get some monitors, theyd be similar to these > Fostex PM-1 MkII (Pair) | Dolphin Music

are these any good ?

would i be able to link these two my pc without spending more than £50 and loosing alot of sound quality ?

ask crysalis about the monitor. you can buy the wires (1/8 in stereo to two 1/4 mono plug). I made mine since I didn't want to pay 25 bucks for them (maybe 5-8 bucks in material).

Bump... lol.

So you have Monitors connected to your PC ?

Also, on a specifications it ses it requires 58Watts...does that mean these will be nothing like as loud through my PC as my Z5500's ?

These also look quite good, there Alesis M1 Active MK2's. Alesis M1 Active MK2 (pair) | Dolphin Music

OK... before I give any advice on anything in this thread, it needs to be understood that studio monitors are meant for STUDIO listening. That means, you listen to them FLAT, ISOLATED, and CALIBRATED!

They will NOT thump, bump, or blow the house down. Especially with you KMAN, i'm not going to go giving a ton of advice again and it be ignored. Studio monitors are not meant for gaming. Not only that, but loud volumes are a no no. You will easily destroy studio monitors at loud volumes.

If you are willing to listen to flat sound and get rid of the idea that these speakers are going to put out bass, then I can help out.
