Default New Headphones/Microphone

Hey all,

My idiot friend has just broken my beloved headset so i need to get me a new set.

Basically, i have been looking at Sennheiser Wireless headphones but after reading some reviews, it doesnt seem like they are very good for music. I have seen these - Play.com (UK) - Free Delivery - Electronics - and they look very good to me, but you are the experts

Any advice on them, any good?

I pretty much just listen to music a lot, play some games (Racing games, to be precise) and go on skype a lot. Obviously these do not have a microphone, so i would need to overcome that problem too. Does anyone know what this is like - Logitech USB Desktop Microphone: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo - and if its worth spending a bit on so get some nice headphones rather than a headset.

Any advice would be a great help, and if anyone knows of anywhere i can get either of those products (or any better products you can think of) for a bit less money it would be very nice of you.

Thanks
Element.

I have that Mic, perfectly adequate. Sounds as clear as you would need it as a desktop mic (except recording).

Them headphones are very good too, that's a good choice you've got there. You won't regret it. There may be some better headsets if your willing to streatch your budget, however ?

Great news.

I may be willing to stretch my budget a bit, but I would say nowhere over £90.

Also, is there any difference in quality between the USB Dekstop Microphone and this one with a 3.5mm jack? Logitech Analog Desktop Stick Microphone with 3.5mm: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Thanks

Quite possibly a difference yes, whether it's a good difference in all honesty i'm unsure. I would predict it's better quality, but seriously - choose the USB one, it works effortlessly and it does sound good, and i'm not easy to please with audio Trust me, i'd be shooting it down if it sounded bad.. (for it's price ofcourse, it doesn't compete with conventional recording mic's)

I'm off to bed now, I'll look for some better headphones and go over to head-fi.org and ask around for you tommorow sometime, within your £90 budget.

Thanks.

Lol, might be a bit out of my price range

I think I will stick to my initial ideas, those Sennheisers are beginning to grow on me. Hopefully I will have them for christmas, if Play can deliver them in time. I will report back when I've got them.

Thanks for the help Oreo

Ahh shame the Senns wont let you down, but i do think you would of probably preferred the ATH-A500.

Any problems or questions just PM me - good look with your new 'phones.

Havn't ordered yet

Those A500's look rather nice, but I'm not sure if i would prefer them over the Sennheisers. Looks like its got much better bass, but wont be as comfortble after a long time wearing them which could be a problem. The headphones i have now are quite tight and are leather like the A500 and its starting to get really unpleseant doing loong races on Live For Speed .

You may think im wierd but im gonna stick with the Sennheisers, bit less money, look very comfy, good reviews and they look really nice

Hopefully they wont get broken again, i might enforce a "You break it you buy it" rule.

I don't blame you, the Sennheisers are allways considered the best headphones to get as your first hi-fi quality headphones, they have a sound nearly everyone loves. When you start getting the Audio Technicas, Grado's, AKG brand headphones they have a much mor distinct charachteristic (although the Audio Technicas are closest to senns) which some people may not like. Although i, think you would probably for the audipo technicas incredibley comfortable

Good luck with them though, you'll want some better 'phones soon..everyone catches the hi-fi headphone curse which makes u buy lots of them
