You need to give some more information about what you have. Also, why 7.1?

From what I've done and seen most people don't know too much about audio and when they do get a recommendation will be blown away.

What??

Druid - What is your budget? Don't get wireless speakers, and 7.1 is pointless unless. Don't go buy a home theater in a box. You won't be satisfied. Get a nice pair of floorstanding speakers and a sub to start. Run them through a good receiver from your computer and you will be much more satisfied. Oh and why are you using your computer? Is it an HTPC?

It is a media pc with a bluray player. I don't know what an htpc is. It is for my parents in their basement since it just go finished. She said she wanted wireless speakers. She was considering buy this, I guess, "home theater system" that included a bluray player and surround sound for $800, so I would think that putting a bluray drive in a media pc is better since she wants one of those anyway.

HTPC stands for Home Theater PC. Same thing.

Anyways, tell your mom wireless speakers are not the way to go. If she is concerned about wiring clutter, just have somebody professionally install the wires into the walls or something. Having an HTPC is fine and the blu-ray player is fine (although I don't know how it has to be setup) but I still say that your mom will be WAY more satisfied with a nice pair of floorstanding speakers, a sub, and good receiver to power them. Have her go to a nice home theater store that specializes in audio (i.e. NOT best buy) and have her listen to a good pair of floor standing speakers and I promise you she will like them way more than some silly 7.1 system.
