Default Moving files from CD to PC or MP3 player

I have an issue with moving files from a CD Rom to another device.

If it happens to go through my computer, all files are automatically put to .cda format. That, I believe, is a format that sets a player on your computer to automatically play the file. Basically, a shortcut for the user.

But, say if I reburn the disc, or move the files to my mp3 player, the size will still be 1kb, because I would have moved the shortcut, not the music.

How can I prevent this from happening?

Just make sure that you rip them from the CD as wave files.

Yes, but the thing is, they were most likely originally .wav .mp3 or .wma format.

On my computer, for some reason, they're automatically in .cda format.

Yeah, I think you're just transfering the songs in Windows Explorer (or which ever browser you use). You need a program to rip files into mp3, wav, wma, etc. The program that came with your mp3 player should do the trick.

you are obviously copying and pasting the file. rip it with a program instead as a wav file

put the cd in. open windowmedia player, winamp, musicmatch or realone player

click the copy from cd option. if you want cd quality, rip it as wave, if you don't care for a little compression, rip it as mp3. if the internet is on while you do this it will automatically name the cd and songs
