no its not divx compatible and no the file is in avi format at 698mb

i know my dvd player can use vcd cause a friend brought one over a while ago.

avi is just a container

divx, xvid, x264, h264, etc... are codecs
they can all fit into this .avi format

unfortunately, VCD use MPEG format, not avi
and MPEG does not have very good compression ratio

so depends on how long your video is, you might have to split it across 2 or more CDs.
