Default Logitech speakers keep resetting.

I live in New York and in the summer, the power goes out for like 5 seconds occasionally. I have a 5.1 logitech surround setup, and everytime the power goes out my spreaker settings reset to the default (No cmss surround, and it goes back to 2.1) Why is this happening? Sometimes, but rarely, if I reboot my computer the settings will go back to default as well.

Is there a spot on the speakers to have some type of battery backup?
If so, insert a battery

I have a logitech 5.1 system as well (5300e). The settings are stored either in the controller or the amp/sub (sub/center/fade), and the RAM that it's stored in is volatile, meaning that when it looses power it gets wiped, just like the RAM in your computer. So when the power goes out, so do the settings. Not much you can do about it. Maybe just put a tick mark with a black sharpie above where you usually keep them to remember. (black on black wont show up much but you should still be able to see them if you look)

Happens every time I move my speakers....

Thanks for the reply, sucks theres nothing to do about it. I guess it isn't that bad because it takes all of 5 seconds to put the settings back, but it's just annoying.

...?

Are you talking about audio settings in the EAX Console for a Creative Soundcard :freak:?

Do you both have Creative soundcards?

Or are you referring to the Matrix Mode and Source Selector functions of the speaker system itself?

Yeah lol I'm still confused :freak:...

Do you mean the EAX settings on your PC...

...If you mean this, then yes, each time your PC does a cold boot (a boot up after your system fails to shutdown properly) then your EAX settings (including speaker settings and EAX effects) configured for your soundcard will be lost.

This used to happen to me and it was extremely irritating, as each time my system crashed, through power loss or system error, I would lose all my creative soundcard settings and I'd have to re-configure them again. Custom EAX effects took forever!

However, some time ago I installed the latest creative sound driver from the Creative Soundblaster website and since then, I haven't experienced this problem.

Go to http://www.creative.com/language.asp...port/downloads , select your country, then select your soundcard, then download and install the latest driver for your soundcard if you haven't already done so.
