Help needed regarding nVidia GeForce2 MX400 plus AMD athlon chips

I am using the abovementioned graphic card on my gigabyte GA-7VTXE+ MB with an AMD Athlon 1.7 chip running win xp pro.

The computer works perfectly fine during normal operations but crashes easily whenever i try playing any sort of movie file (eg .mov, .asf, .avi, .mpg). the problem is getting really annoying, can anybody help?

it's not the viewer's fault. i've tried a few players and the problem still persists...

do you still have windvd installed? try uninstalling it. powerdvd works fine but not as good as windvd (when it works). i have the same problem and windvd seems to be the cause but im not completely sure

so it's the player prob? actually i have neither windvd or powerdvd installed.
