Red face help me with headphone gaming setup

i bought a sound blaster x-fi pro and want to hook my headphones up to them - which slot should i put em in?

also, is there any way to listen to gaming sounds etc from my speakers AND sound card? i want to hook my speakers to onboard sound and headphone to soundcard so do they work together or do i have to unplug one when listening to the other?

cheers

For your second question, you won't be able to listen to the 'same' thing thru your onboard output and your sound card output. You can route differnt apps to play out of each, but the the same app;
IE: You start a game, with your Sound and Audio Devices (in the control panel) set to the sound card for output. Then after the game starts, you switch it to your onboard sound card, then open Windows Media player and play some mp3's, they will play out of your onboard outputs. But, I'm almost positive you can't do this with a single source.(meaing you can't have the game sounds play out of both).

You can also go into the Windows media app and change the output source, and this may be a possible option for some games and other applications, but not all.

What do you mean gaming sounds on the sound card and music through the onboard.

Why not just play everything through the sound card

The only reason to do this would be to play things completely seperat thru different sources. IE have your stero hooked up to your onboard and be play music from the pc out of it, and having while playing a game where the sounds are coming out of you pc speakers. That way you don't have gunshots sound coming out of your stereo. Only reason I can think of doing that, and I have done it before, but for different reasons.
