Default Geforce fan!?

Hey all! I'm not sure if i'm having a problem or not. I noticed when doing some repair to my computer that my nvidia Geforce2 MX 100/200 (Whatever the 100/200 means) has a fan on it, but its not spinning. When I touch it, it is very hot... its at that fine line between pain and burn. Is the fan dead or does the card automatically know when to turn the fan on?

If it is dead... then where could i buy a replacement fan for it? I'm not in the mood to buy a new video card as I have bought alot for my computer lately (audigy2 ZS, ram, ls-120, hard drive, XP and on and on) so i'm not wanting to replace the whole thing if i need to just replace the little fan.

Thanks guys! Much appreciated (in advance)!

Ok... i tried some DIY... took the fan off and sprayed some electronics cleaner in and it spins fine now with my finger. Plugged it into the card and installed card again without screwing the fan onto the card. Worked great. Took the card out, screwed the fan on, put the card back in and the fan works like crap its very noisey and barely moves. I dont know what else i can do without replacing it. Any ideas?

I have the fan unplugged right now - it wasn't working before obviously so i'm ok since i dont play my games anymore (they froze... probably because of the dead fan).

thanx for any help, again!

What is the differences with these?

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...MP=KNC-INKTOMI

XFX, PNY, Chaintec, Evga, and ASUS. Just different companies?

Out of those (sadly, but i'm broke) what would you suggest?

Why not just get a new North Bridge of VGA fan and replace it? They're only about $8 - $12? You can get them anywhere but the best brand is Vantec in my opinion. It's probably just the sleeve in the fan has gotten clogged up with dust.

Here is a link to one that works good. Here!

I was hoping thats what i could do! Thanks! I'll just get that fan and replace it.

I couldn't believe it when i saw that it was dead after having not been able to play games in forever (thought it was due to hd or ram issues as it had been in the past)

Well... i was just putting something away earlier and noticed an old Socket 3 (OMGZ111!!!11!) motherboard with the exact fan I needed. Works great now!

lol... amazing what old technology still does for you these days!
