I dont know. Im new @ this. I Rip some CD's to Windows Media Player and I heard that if you convert the files to MP3's you will be able to fit more songs in a DVD-R. Is this all possible?

Not necessarilly. Mp3's are more universal, but not nnecesarilly smaller. If you ripped the files using Windows media player, chances are they are protected.
If you are looking for smaller size without losing quality, your best bet is AAC. Download iTunes (asuming you don't already have it), then put all your WMA songs in the iTunes library. It will ask you if you want to convert it to AAC, select yes. This won't work if the WMA files are protected. iTunes is also great for burning your songs to a DVD.

Try ripping with NCH Switch format freeware converter:

http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html

It will convert WAV to MP3 as well as other formats.

Hello,

Why don't you just rip directly from the CD to MP3 format?

If you want to use WMP to rip a CD to MP3 instead of WMA, then you can change the rip format in Tools > Options > Rip Music and you should see 'format' under rip settings. You can select MP3 in the dropdown.

That only works with WMP 10. If you have an older version of WMP, you can only rip in WMA protected
