Default DVD's, general safety and care question

1. Is it safe to put dvd's through a scanner if you want to scan the label?

2. Is it safe to stick 2 dvd's together in one sleeve to save space...Should you orientate them so one label touches the other label if you do it that way, or it doesn't matter? I heard somewhere that ink could eat away at the underside of a disc?

3. Are dvd cleaning kits worth the money, like the ones that clean dvd's and the dvd player too? Which one do you recommend?

Apologize if these questions have been asked a lot before.

1) I don't know, but I'm pretty sure NO it won't damage it.

2)Yes, and not sure what you meant by ink? Buy markers that are made to write on the DVD surface!

3) NO, always backup your DVD. For the DVD player, there are disc that clean the lense. I would advise not to.

Oh I meant the ink that's printed on the labels...Its probably not even worth asking but just double checking

So if 2 dvd's were stacked together for a long period of time with the bottom-side of one dvd contacting the label-side of another, there wouldnt be any chance of harm right? When putting 2 dvd's together in the same sleves is it any better bunching them "label to label" rather than "label to bottom-side"

DO NOT PUT THE DVDS LABEL TO LABEL.

The label is the part you DONT want to scratch, it is irreparable. Stick them shiney side to shiney side, or shiney to label, but NOT label to label. If the labels get stuck together, then BOTH DVDs are ruined. I can't stress that enough, DO NOT PUT THE DVDS OR CDS LABEL TO LABEL.

96% of my CD/DVDs are store on spindles just like that, and I have never had a problem.

You are worrying too much... this is like when people said not to touch the metal part of a floppy disc, sure it COULD cause harm, but then again, so could sticking it in a floppy drive, moving the metal around and spinning the disc and high speeds while it rubs it up against a magnet. It really doesn't matter.
