| I have a problem that I noticed just yesterday. On my laptop, I have watched DVD's in the past. For some reason, no DVD will play anymore. I have tried several movies, including several that are scratch-free on the back, and none will work. CD's, however, run fine. In fact I just installed a program today from a CD. Does anyone have any ideas? |

| Ultra Techie | Fermat, Try powerDVD or winDVD to play dvd's. If that doesnt work ,get 'dvd region free' . I t will patch the region settings for your dvd drive, so that you can play dvd's of any region. If nuthing works, try reinstalling your video codecs. get this http://www.free-codecs.com/ACE_Mega_...k_download.htm |

| Thank you for the suggestions, but my regional settings are fine, my codecs are updated (I have Ace Mega...), and it still will not work. One update, however, I tried using an old version of WMP, and it says that it cannot find the DVD directory. Don't know if this helps, I'd appreciate any suggestions. |

| Ultra Techie | Fermat, OKay, it seems windows media player does not include a dvd decoder by default. So you have two options. Get powerDVD or WinDVD [they have dvd decoder builtin] or get the plugins for windows media player 10 from this link http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...ds_how_to.aspx |

| Thank you for the suggestions, but I am already using WinDVD, and my codecs, as well as everything else necessary to play DVD's, are updated. I have tried just about everything, so I will probably bring it somewhere to be looked at. Thank you. |
