Default DVD Compressor

I have a DVD with a family friends wedding on it and I need to copy it. I dont have 2 DVD drives, so doing a direct copy isnt possible. The alternative way is to make an ISO of the DVD, and burn the ISO. I made the image, but it turns out that the ISO is almost 7.5 GB where as a DVD can only hold around 4. If the movie came off of a 4 GB DVD then it has to be able to go back onto a 4 GB DVD.

Anyone know of a way to compress this ISO in order to make it fit on a DVD again or an alternative way to copy a DVD? Am I doing something wrong?

Do you have a dual layer drive? Holds 8.5GB

You can break it in two with winrar but you must decompress it before you can view it.

yes.
if it is a dvd5, use DVDDecrypter rip it to your hard drive and then you can burn it.

if it is a dvd9 and cant put it on a dvd9 disc i would split it into 2 dvd5's. http://www.doom9.org/
the easiest way to compress a dvd9 to dvd5 is dvdshrink, but it may not come out to good.

This may be a dumb question, but how do I determine which type of DVD it is?

I used Alcohol 120% to make an ISO, if this makes a differance.

DVD 9 is DVD DL (Dual layer) which the original most likely is.

It will say DL on the DVD if it is not covered up.

The dvds I have to burn are standard Memorex dvds. So perhaps they are dual layer dvds, I am not sure, Ill have to check later.

But as btv said, I could just use DVD Decrypter to do the whole process?

I dont know why Alcohol 120% doesnt work... I hear it to be the god of DVD ripping/burning.

DVD Shrink works good for actual movies too.

Did it work?

I didn't think DVD shrink waws capable of making a 7GB file into a 4GB file. It will loose a lot of quality though.

You should get All video splitter and put it on two DVD 5.
